The rise of Feliel

Feliel imagines a guardian that never existed in mythology, but perhaps always should have. Borrowing the cadence of angelic names while echoing felis, the work introduces a celestial cat suspended between street iconography and ancient symbolism.

Framed by vertical bands of daylight that recall the stained glass of a cathedral, the mural is gradually revealed to passing drivers as an unexpected urban chapel. At its center stands the icon of a dead cat, reflecting our enduring impulse to invent saints to worship, or at the very least, to leave them a bowl of water and food.
